Dr Mary Kennan

Dr Mary Anne Kennan is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Information Studies at Charles Sturt University, where she is Higher Degree by Research Coordinator. Mary Anne principally teaches the subjects Foundations for Information Studies, Research Data Management and Research Methods. Her previous experience includes 25 years working in libraries and the information world, including serving as Director of the Frank Lowy Library at the Australian Graduate School of Management. For the Information Online Conference she was on the Program Committee in 1997, Program Chair in 1999, Convenor 2001 and member of the Executive Committee 2003. She has also taught at the University of New South Wales and the University of Technology Sydney. She is co-editor (with Dr Gaby Haddow of Curtin University) of Australian Academic and Research Libraries and serves on the editorial board of Webology and the International Journal of Actor-Network Theory and Technological Innovation.

Mary Anne's research interests focus broadly on scholarly communication including open access, institutional repositories, e-research, research data management, citizen science and increasingly on the practices of information sharing and collaboration.

Other recent investigations include working with CSU colleagues to investigate how information can play a part in the social inclusion of refugees. More broadly Mary Anne is interested in research methodology and methods, and investigates using a variety of approaches, including interpretivist/constuctivist and post positivist, and a variety of methods from field research to survey.
