In the past, Steven has been a parish priest, the Dean of St Peter's Cathedral Adelaide and the Principal St Francis Theological College Brisbane. He has had a life-long interest in theology and has previously taught theology at Flinders University. His research interests include theology and culture, Michel Foucault, ecclesiology, theological anthropology, gender and sexuality. He is currently working on a major project on the meaning and practice of authority in the Church.
