I’m Dr. Elizabeth (Lizzy) Tait and I joined CSU in February 2022.
I am originally from North-East Scotland and have an interdisciplinary academic background. Before becoming an Information Studies academic, I worked as a researcher in the areas of labour market economics and digital economy and have conducted research projects in remote rural communities in Scotland including Orkney and Na h-Eileanan Siar.
My main area of expertise relates to the digital transformation of business and culture through the application of emergent technologies such as laser scanning, 3D visualisation, and semantic linked data. I have led and co-designed projects across multiple countries and industries with a particular focus on the energy sector, cultural heritage institutions, and economic regeneration of the urban built heritage environment.
I am especially interested in technologies for museums and galleries to develop engaging exhibits for patrons and how technologies can be used for civic engagement such as participation in politics. I am also a fan of all things geeky and especially like robots and sci-fi books/movies/TV shows.
