Jacquie’s current art practice is underpinning by notions of care, particularly in relation to the role of education and the ways in which we learn, teach, and express care (both caring about, and caring for). Her current research investigates how we can incorporate care into the way we design learning and teaching, especially for those who live with mental illness, as well as the ways in which art and craft practice is a form and expression of care. Currently working with both clay and drawing media, Jacquie’s current project explores the ways in which the act of hand-crafting a rudimentary raw material such as clay is an embodiment of caring (for others and the world), particularly in an increasingly digital world, as well as an introspective and temporal experiment regarding what is often called ‘self-care’.
