June Golland

Research Interests

June Golland is a contemporary artist based in the regional city of Bathurst. Her art practice crosses textiles, assemblage, collage and site-specific installation, exploring making as a means of processing grief and externalising loss. Embodying a deep reverence for the history of Australian craft, her work uses skills handed down through generations of women to engage with the universal themes of life and death, love and loss.

June has presented solo exhibitions at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery (2011), Western Plains Cultural Centre (2018) and AIRspace Projects (2019) and her work has been curated into group exhibitions including; Occupied, Blue Mountains Cultural Centre (2020); With every breath, Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, (2019); Curiouser and Curiouser, Bathurst Regional Art Gallery (2018) and Slideshow, ANCA (2018). In 2015 she presented new work at the Cementa Festival, a print of which was later acquired for the Artbank collection. Her work formed part of Andrew Frost’s Cementa19 curation ‘Here and not here’ and she showcased work at Regional Art Conferences in Dubbo (Artlands 2016) and Bathurst (ArtState 2018).

June is a founding member of WAYOUT Artspace and recently exhibited work as part of their presentation The Bitter Crustat No Show. In 2021 she was appointed Co-Director at Firstdraft Gallery and is currently employed by Orange Regional Gallery as part of the Artist Educator initiative.
