Tyhe is a Lecturer in Graphic Design within the School of Communication and Creative Industries (SCCI) in Port Macquarie. He is currently a PhD (Design) candidate (UoN) and holds a Master of Creative Practice (CSU), a BA (Graphic Design) (CSU) and a BA (Photography) (CSU).
Tyhe’s experience in government, commercial and private design has created an adaptable way of thinking, suiting the ever-changing nature of design. Tyhe specialises in branding, page layout and campaign design, and is interested in the fields of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design.
His practice is focused on the natural environment with the belief that creative practice can influence positive change to our environments.
Tyhe teaches a wide range of Creative Industries subjects within the discipline of Graphic Design and Photography, including Design for Ideation, Digital Imaging, Typography, UX/UI Design, Digital Publishing, Experimental Design, Contemporary Design, Portfolio Development, and Visual Communication.
Tyhe’s practice-led PhD research is aimed at creating more effective environmental campaigns through the development of accessible strategies. With a focus on the marine environment, the strategies can allow for communicators of any discipline to identify opportunities within their campaigns to have greater impact.
The research is heavily influenced by interdisciplinary collaboration, implementing strategies from psychology, environmental communication, advertising and graphic design.
His research interests lie in understanding how creative practice can have a positive impact on the natural environment and communities around the world.
