Bachelor of Social Work (University of Sydney 1998) and Master of Social Work (Advanced Practice) (Charles Sturt University 2016)

Don is a social worker with over 21 years’ experience in service delivery and policy contexts including government and non-government human service organisations such as headspace, Australian Government, St Agnes’ Parish, Mid North Coast Local Health District and private practice. Don has experience delivering training and group work in mental health first aid, post-natal depression, men’s behaviour change programs and trauma-informed care.

As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker in private practice, Don has extensive counselling experience across different therapeutic modalities including trauma-focused cognitive behaviour therapy, cognitive processing therapy, EMDR and sensorimotor psychotherapy. Don has worked in urban, regional and remote areas in Australia, including the Northern Territory. After working in the UK for two years in child protection and disability, Don has focused on his research interests including the neurobiology of developmental trauma, attachment and adverse childhood experiences.
