Arlene has been working in cultural education for over 10 years in tertiary institutions and the community sector. After studying a Bachelor of Trauma and Healing and Indigenous studies abroad, Arlene became interested in the areas of cultural resilience, decolonisation practices, Aboriginal languages and Traditional ecological knowledge. Her work experience extends to working in the legal and social work sector, community health and development, and Indigenous tourism.
Arlene is based at Port Macquarie campus as a Lecturer in the School of Indigenous Australian studies. Arlene is a Birpai First Nations woman who is active in her community in the revitalisation of language and cultural practices and promoting the use of decolonisation tools to build resilience and visually assert Aboriginal existence and identity.
