Sharon is a leading contributor to the Faculty of Arts and Education through her involvement in the university’ strategic projects including Course and Subject Optimisation, Charles Sturt Advantage, Campus Futures, Our Students’ Strategy and Course Revitalisation.  She has held senior leadership positions in the Faculty including Acting Associate Dean Academic and Acting Head of the School of Communication and Creative Industries (SCCI).

Sharon has played a pivotal role in the implementation of new and sustainable approaches to course design and development to satisfy internal requirements as well as accreditation, TEQSA and the HESF benchmarks.  Sharon maintains professional engagement through the following professional engagement activities: Leading industry consultations in reviewing courses, managing accreditation processes, maintaining relationships to source work placements and revitalising approaches for HDR students Leading collaborations with community partners staging 89 separate events, providing training for 30 business professionals through CenWest Innovate and designing media training for the Vice Chancellors Leadership team in March 2020.

Sharon leads a program of research aligning with international priorities articulated in the ‘2018 Global Capabilities Framework for Communicators’, the national professional body’s research agenda focusing on sustainable communication practice and the Health and Wellbeing component in the Charles Sturt Research Strategy (2020-2026).  Her research areas include resilience and wellbeing, course design and development, social media and relationship management.
