Kay Nankervis is an actor, broadcaster and playwright with decades of media experience. She's acted in film, on stage and in television drama. She’s worked extensively as a TV and radio broadcaster/writer/producer with ABC, SBS and commercial networks in Australia and Great Britain.

Since joining CSU Kay has written and seen to production two stage-plays and performed key roles in stage and film productions based in the Central West. Kay has published journal articles and presented at conferences on theatre-making, critical whiteness, representations of First Nations Australians, broadcast journalism, playwriting and on communication pedagogy (including issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in higher education).

Kay is nearing completion of a PhD exploring the role of the non-Aboriginal playwright seeking to include First Nations perspectives in her writing.

Kay has taught most recently into the Theatre Media degree within the School of Communication and Creative Industries: her subject areas have included the first year Principles of Theatre Media subject and related subjects exploring theatre texts from particular eras. Kay has also taught in past years into broadcast storytelling subjects. In 2019 Kay will be teaching first, second and third year students across subjects exploring contemporary, modern, ancient Greek and Shakespearean theatre and performance along with delivering the Communication degree’s core scriptwriting subject.
