Therese is a proud alumni of Charles Sturt University, having studied as both an oncampus and online student in the Bachelor of Arts (Social Welfare), Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Child and Adolescent Welfare.

Therese has been working at Charles Sturt University since 2012. She has over 25 years social work practice experience in regional NSW. She has worked in hospitals settings, in community based aged care teams, community based brain injury rehabilitation and as a social worker at Centrelink. Therese utilises this knowledge to inform her teaching into the Social Work and Human Service programs.

Therese has engaged in a range of roles at the university including; Field Education Coordinator, Course Director and Rural Health Educator. These roles have required close links with industry and as a result has developed her skills, in leadership, project management, and innovative practice.

Therese is passionate about rural issues, having lived and worked in Wagga Wagga for most of her life, especially as they relate to fair access to health and community based services.

Since commencing at Charles Sturt University Therese has been involved in all aspects of the curriculum at both an undergraduate and post graduate level. As a Course Director she has developed new courses such as the Graduate Certificate in Case Management and Coordinated Care and managed a complex portfolio of courses including Bachelor of Human Services and Master of Gerontology.  She has been involved in the development of new subjects with a particular focus on incorporating Indigenous knowledges into subjects, in accordance with the Indigenous Curriculum Policy at Charles Sturt. Through her work in Social Work Field Education she has contributed to teaching through subject development, supervision training, innovative placement models and co supervision arrangements.

Throughout 2023, Therese has been teaching introductory subject in human services, and specialist subjects in child and family area and working with older people. She is deeply committed to producing graduates who are ethical, knowledgeable and skilled practitioners who are able to navigate the changing and complex world of human service delivery. Therese seeks to engage with her students in respectful relationships building on the wisdom of the Wiradjuri peoples phrase yindyamarra winhanganha

Therese is a member of the Australian Association of Social Work.

She has been facilitating the Wagga Social Work Network for over 25 years, which promotes professional connections with regionally based social workers.

She continues to make a contribution through various working parties in the promotion and development of social work and human services education.
