Seminar 1: Naming the apocalypse

In this opening seminar, panellists Will Richardson (education thought-leader, best-selling author and international speaker), Dr Tanya Davies (whose research focuses on global citizenship, intercultural understanding and place-based education), Jude Murphy (teacher and writer) and Gus Jacups (initial teacher education student) will spend time naming and considering the overlapping crises shaping contemporary education, including widening inequality, ecological collapse, colonialism, generative AI, distrust in institutions, global conflict and growing social fragmentation. Rather than treating these as isolated disruptions, this seminar will consider what these conditions reveal about the historical purposes and political logics of schooling.
