The focus of discussion in this seminar will be on the changing nature of teacher professionalism in systems increasingly shaped by performativity, surveillance, scripted curricula and efficiency logics. Panellists Emeritus Professor of Educational Justice Robert Hattam, Dr Rafaan Daliri-Ngametua (FHEA), Dr Sarah Gurr and Claudia Vera will share their concerns about the erosion of professional judgement, alongside the exhaustion and moral injury many educators are experiencing, while also exploring what it might mean to reclaim teaching as intellectual, ethical and relational work.
