Seminar 4: Solidarity and possibility

Seminar 4: Solidarity and possibility

Tuesday 8 September 7.00 – 8.30pm AEST

In the final seminar, we turn our attention to questions of action and toward different, hopeful, educational futures. Rejecting both passive optimism and hopelessness, this conversation will consider what educators, communities and young people might do once the conditions of the present have been named and understood. It considers how collective response and public action might emerge during this time of deep rupture and uncertainty.

Key discussion points:

  • What forms of action are possible in this moment?
  • How might educators move beyond isolation toward solidarity and collective responsibility?
  • What does resistance, care and public hope look like in education today?
  • How might education create spaces for grief along with rage, creativity and collective imagination rather than silence or disengagement?
  • What kinds of educational futures remain worth fighting for?
