Greg has over forty years of experience in education, initially as a secondary teacher and Head Teacher of Science and Learning Support before moving to the tertiary sector in 2007. His initial academic role was with the then School of Teacher Education as a lecturer in Inclusive Education, before being seconded into a university wide program aimed at improving learning and teaching. Greg then moved into the Division of Learning and Teaching where he was Senior Lecturer in Academic Development and Course Director for the institution’s Graduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education.

After returning to the School of Education as a Course Director for the Bachelor of Education (K-12), Greg moved to the University of Technology (Sydney) as an Associate Professor in Course Design, before retiring from full-time work at the beginning of 2024.

Greg currently holds an Adjunct Research position with the School of Education, where he maintains research and supervisory connections, as well as engaging in some sessional teaching. He has recently taken up a contract position as a part-time Course Director, assisting with the Bachelor of Educational studies.

While somewhat eclectic, Greg’s research interests are predominantly focussed on course design in higher education. His teacher education, in particular how graduates of these courses are prepared for inclusive classroom teaching. He is currently working with other researchers in this area on expanding international perspectives on schema development in initial teacher education programs, and the development of professional language in graduates of these programs to support their schema.

Greg is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a member of the Australian Association for Research in Education, and a member of the Australian Teacher Education Association. He is a regular reviewer for book chapters and journal articles for both national and international publications and is currently the Australian contact for the Improving University Teaching (IUT) consortium.
