Andrew is a mathematics educator with 19 years of classroom experience, including extensive leadership as a Mathematics Head of Department. Holding a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) and Graduate Diploma of Education from the University of Newcastle, he brings deep expertise in secondary mathematics teaching and teacher mentoring.

A PhD candidate at the University of Queensland, his research focuses on differentiating instruction in secondary mathematics classrooms, with an emphasis on equity and inclusive practice. His scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed publications and presentations at international conferences, including ICME-15 and multiple MERGA conferences.

As Associate Lecturer in Professional Experience at Charles Sturt University, Andrew works closely with pre-service teachers to help them build the skills, knowledge, and reflective habits needed to thrive in today's classrooms. He draws on his own research and classroom experience to support their growth with both academic grounding and practical insight.

Andrew’s research interests centre on equity and differentiated instruction in secondary mathematics education, exploring how innovative, research-based teaching resources can better meet the diverse needs of students in mixed-ability classrooms. Alongside this, he is interested in the relationship between classroom design, curriculum, student engagement and mathematical thinking. Andrew is also deeply invested in the professional formation of teachers, with interests spanning teacher professional learning, pedagogical development, and the preparation and support of pre-service teachers through professional experience.
