BEd ACU, Med CSU, PhD UC Emily is a qualified early childhood and primary educator who is passionate about teaching and mentoring pre-service and early career teachers. With over a decade of experience in the education industry, Emily has held various teaching and leadership positions in public, Catholic and International Baccalaureate schools, before moving into the tertiary sector in 2018. She completed her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood and Primary Education (ACU) and went on to complete her Master of Education in Educational Leadership (CSU). Most recently, Emily completed her PhD at the University of Canberra (UC), exploring teacher readiness for STEM education in early years contexts. In 2022, Emily was awarded a Fellowship from AdvanceHE’s Higher Education Academy in recognition of her commitment to teaching excellence. Emily is a Lecturer in Professional Experience has experience across a range of Initial Teacher Education and Post Graduate units including STEM, Technologies, Creative Arts, English, Mathematics, and Curriculum. Emily has recently completed her PhD with a research focus on exploring teacher readiness for STEM education in early years contexts. Her research extends to the UC Affiliated Schools Research Project, where she is the Primary Investigator on a grant, collaborating with colleagues from the University of Canberra, Macquarie University and Federation University. The research team explored the role of embedded formative assessments in educational apps, focusing on the Early Learning STEM Australia (ELSA) apps. Further, Emily has engaged with research projects through the Australian Technology Teacher Educator Network (ATTEN) including a book chapter titled ‘Assessment in Creative Technologies Education’ published in ‘Creative Technologies Education’.
