Goutam Roy is a Lecturer in STEM Education in the School of Education at the Bathurst campus at Charles Sturt University. Goutam was awarded his PhD in children’s scientific literacy development in the early years from Charles Sturt University in 2026. Dr Roy has specialist expertise in scientific literacy, STEM education, early childhood development, play-based pedagogy, online education, and educational research methodology. With over twenty years of experience, Goutam has been engaged as an academic and researcher in both university and industry settings across Australia and Bangladesh.

Prior to his appointment as a Lecturer at Charles Sturt University, Goutam worked as a Sessional Academic and Research Assistant at Charles Sturt University and as a faculty member at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Goutam has held multiple strategic leadership roles at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, where he has led several research projects and faculty-wide initiatives.

Goutam is deeply committed to mentoring and capacity-building of the students. He provided Embedded Tutoring support to the undergraduate students and mentored several HDR students.

Goutam’s research interests are diverse, with a focus on child development in the early years through STEM play experiences. Dr Roy’s research areas encompass STEM education, childhood development, play pedagogy, online education, and educational research methodology.
