His current research project focuses on the development of the concept of multiplicative thinking in students in the primary and junior secondary school. He employs an exploratory mixed-method approach to explore teachers' pedagogical content knowledge for supporting students' learning around multiplicative thinking. Mayamiko’s research uses the model of Teacher Capacity as the framework for instrument(s) design and data analysis. Multiplicative thinking underpins students' learning of other key topics in mathematics and has emerged as an area of research focus in mathematics education in recent years. Mayamiko's research complements the current efforts to enhance teachers' capacity to support students' learning around multiplicative thinking. As a teacher and researcher in STEM and Mathematics Education, Mayamiko has presented at local and international conferences.
