Phd, M.Ed. (Sp.Ed.), Grad. Dip.Ed. (Literacy Studies), Grad.Cert. in Gifted Ed., B.Ed. (Ed.St.), Dip.Teach (Primary) As committed primary teacher with 20 years’ experience in the classroom, and an additional 10 years in inclusive education, Nikki has extensive knowledge and experience in educational psychology, child development and inclusive education. Understanding how students learn and striving to meet the needs of all learners has been a motivation throughout her career and is an overarching theme of her teaching philosophy and practice. Prior to starting her continuing role in 2025, Nikki has over 18 years’ experience as a part-time sessional lecturer in the School of Education and the admission pathways program at CSU. After leaving primary school at the end of 2021, Nikki has worked exclusively at CSU to coordinate and convene a range of subjects in educational psychology, child development and inclusive education. The combination of Nikki’s experience as a classroom teacher, inclusive education teacher and sessional lecturer is a real strength. This experience has been enriched by her extensive postgraduate studies, supporting her thorough knowledge of content, teaching methodology and factors which influence student learning. Nikki is currently teaching in an Educational Psychology and Child Development subject, EED216 - Child Development: The Primary Years, as well as an Inclusive Education subjects, ESS419 & ESS509 - Principles of Inclusive Education. Nikki is currently working on the Attitudes towards teachers supporting student mental health in rural contexts: Defining the school teachers’ role in supporting student mental health and reviewing pre-service teacher mental health curriculum/trainingproject with Dr Brian Moore and Dr Sarah Redshaw. Data has been collected and analysed from Australian, Indian, and Chinese contexts, with several articles awaiting publication. In 2015 Nikki completed her PhD in gifted education. Her doctoral thesis, completed under the supervision of Professor Bob Perry and Dr. Noella Mackenzie, is titled, “Put your seatbelt on, here we go!” The transition to school for children identified as gifted. In 2013, Nikki presented her preliminary findings in the symposium, Gifted Children and Their Perspective on Starting School at the 23rd EECERA conference in Tallinn, Estonia View publications in CROTeaching and Research Staff4478418
