Dr Sarah Redshaw has developed and conducted research projects for over 20 years, including as an ARC postdoctoral research fellow with the Centre for Cultural Research at the University of Western Sydney on the ARC Linkage Transforming Drivers project, senior researcher at the Kids Research Institute, Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and Research Fellow in sociology at Macquarie University. She also worked as a social researcher on community connections and resilience research with Dr Valerie Ingham at Charles Sturt University and in Public Health at the University of Technology Sydney. She has published a number of papers and a book, In the Company of Cars: Driving as a Social and Cultural Practice (Ashgate, 2008), from her studies on the social and cultural aspects of young people’s engagement with cars, and on a number of health-related projects including Community Connections, B SAFE, Bereavement Support in Community Nursing, Heartbeads, and Measuring the Outcomes of Case Managed Community Care. As Research Fellow in the Faculty of Arts and Education at Charles Sturt University she worked with academics across a range of projects with academics from early childcare education, social work, teacher education, communications, information studies and Australian Indigenous Studies. As Senior Research Fellow 2022 to present she has developed and supported research in education across a number of areas as part of the Curriculum and Pedagogy Sturt Scheme team. She has been conducting research on inclusion in higher education and has produced publications in this and other areas of education.

She is currently working on numerous projects including:

Preservice teacher training in mental health preparing a literature review and research project on expectations of the role of teachers in mental health with children and youth with Dr Brian Moore and Assoc Prof Lena Danaia.
A scoping review on STEM teaching in schools with A/Prof Lena Danaia and Dr James Deehan and others ‘STEM in the classroom: a scoping review of emerging research on the integration of STEM education within Australian schools’ The Australian Educational Researcher.
Literature review with Assoc Prof Jenni Munday and Dr Jessamy Davies on teaching the creative arts online to be submitted to the Online Learning Journal.
