Shukla Sikder is a lecturer and researcher in the Faculty of Arts and Education at Charles Sturt University. Shukla was awarded her PhD on early childhood science education from Monash University in 2016. Dr Shukla Sikder has specialist expertise in early childhood science, technology, and play-based pedagogy. Shukla has almost 14 years of multicultural experience of teaching and research in early childhood, primary and higher education in Australia, Singapore, and Bangladesh. Dr Sikder's current research interests include: science learning through play and everyday practices across home and education settings; digital technology as an innovative way of teaching and learning; children's learning and development (birth to eight) through play; and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education. PhD research Shukla's PhD research looked at Infants-toddlers' (10-36 months) development of scientific concepts through everyday activities as part of family practices. Her PhD studies were supervised by Professor Marilyn Fleer, Monash University, Australia.
