Katrina Gersbach

 Katrina Gersbach

Katrina has a Bachelor of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales. Katrina also has a Graduate Certificate in Social Work Supervision, Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and a Master of Education.

Katrina's professional practice experience is primarily in the field of child and family welfare, and health.  Katrina has extensive experience working with Indigenous communities within Western NSW. Katrina has held roles in; case management, group facilitation, individual counselling and management.

Katrina joined Charles Sturt University as an academic staff member in 2013. Katrina is an active member of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Katrina teaches a number of subjects on campus and online. Katrina teaches across the Social Work Theory and Practice subjects and supports Social Work students on placements. Katrina primarily teaches into subjects on; child welfare, case management and mental health. Katrina supervises Social Work students in the completion of their Honours dissertation.

Katrina's research interests include:

  • Collaborative, cooperative and respectful work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • The importance of child development and early intervention perspectives and understandings in child welfare practice.
  • The scholarship of learning and teaching within Higher Education.
