Learn about what we do and the Social Work in Libraries program.
The Social Work in Libraries (SWIL) program for social work student work placements was introduced in Wiradjuri Country in September 2021.
The program sits under the SWiL umbrella, which is an interdisciplinary program between the School of Social Work and Arts (SSWA) and the School of Information and Communication Studies (SICS).
It is a part of the Future of the Professions (FotP) Research Group.
Working collaboratively with Australian public libraries, this project promotes co-designed research and enhances andragogy for social work students.
The SWiL team at Charles Sturt has been recognised as “unique in Australia” reflecting on the emerging trends of social workers providing referral, consultation, and other services to support communities (Wagga Wagga City Council, 2022).
