Professor Tina Du is the Head of the School of Information and Communication Studies and a full Professor of Information Sciences at Charles Sturt University, New South Wales, Australia.
Tina received her PhD from Queensland University of Technology. She was awarded the Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (ARC DECRA), a visiting research fellowship at the University of Oxford, the South Australian Young Tall Poppy of Science Award, Winnovation Award, and the University Mid-Career Researcher of the Year, among many other awards and honours. Her research interests are interdisciplinary, focusing on user-technology interactions, community engagement, marginalised communities, information behaviour/journey, public libraries, and social impacts of emerging technologies. Her research work has attracted over $1.9M in the Australian Research Council and industry competitive research funding and yielded over 140 publications in national and international leading journals and conferences. She has supervised 22 PhD students and 8 postdocs and research assistants.
Tina is a Fellow of the Governor’s Leadership Foundation of South Australia. She has served as a chair of the Research Advisory Committee of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), and Director-at-Large, Board of Directors of the international Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T).
Tina’s teaching has covered a broad range of courses in digital information management and human information behaviour. Recently she taught the Research Methods course to Honours and Masters students enrolled in multiple information studies and information technology majors, Masters' research project course, and IT Capstone Professional project course. Tina has supervised 19 Ph.D. students (with 8 as principal) with 13 completions.
Teaching interests
Tina leads the Information and Innovation Research Group of a number of academics, postdoctoral researchers, PhD and Masters by Research students, and visiting scholars.
