2MCE is Charles Sturt University’s community radio station operated in partnership with the regional communities of Bathurst and Orange. It serves the social, cultural, and educational interests of both the community and the university through the provision of facilities, training, and programs.
2MCE began in 1976 and station alumni include Andrew Denton, Amanda Keller, Hamish MacDonald, and Jessica Rowe.
Hands-on experience at 2MCE enables communication students to gain professional and practical skills for the media and broadcast industries. The station is a major teaching and practical training resource for students in the School of Information and Communication Studies.
Community radio plays an important role in providing a diverse range of viewpoints that enrich the social and cultural fabric of Australian society. At 2MCE, School of Information and Communication Studies students have the opportunity to contribute to the production of innovative and diverse content that serves the local community.
