Deborah brings over a decade of experience in strategic communication and public relations, underpinned by a rich professional background in public relations. Her scholarly work, characterised by its diversity and interconnectedness, delves into themes such as health communication, climate change in political campaigns, sustainability, ethical dimensions in public relations, and science diplomacy. Her research consistently aims to unravel how strategic communication influences and is influenced by environmental and political phenomena.

In her role as Senior Lecturer and Program Director for the Bachelor of Communication at CSU, Deborah is dedicated to pedagogical innovation. Her teaching approach is a fusion of cutting-edge research and practical knowledge, emphasizing real-world applications in communication education. This commitment to teaching excellence was recognized with the RMIT University DVC Award for Learning and Teaching Innovation.

Deborah’s research primarily focuses on strategic communication, with a particular emphasis on environmental sustainability, policy, and politics. Her current work explores the intersection of strategic positioning and organizational communication, a domain that has garnered over $80K in competitive grants and international recognition, including an award for international engagement. This accolade underscores her significant impact on global communication strategies.
