BA UTS, MBA UTS, PhD USyd Edward is a Senior Lecturer in Information Studies. His PhD thesis in Business Information Systems at the University of Sydney Business School (2025) examined the impact of metrics and managerialism on academics’ research choices. Prior to transitioning to academia, Edward held leadership roles in academic libraries, including his most recent position as Associate Director, Academic Services at the University of Sydney Library. In that role, Edward oversaw the liaison librarian teams providing education and research support services. He led the design and implementation of innovative service models, with a focus on supporting the development of information and digital literacy skills. Edward teaches across a range of subject areas in the Bachelor of Information Studies and the Master of Information Studies. Edward’s research interests include metrification and academic work, scholarly publishing, open access, academic librarianship, and design thinking. His PhD research investigated the impact of research metrics on academics’ research practices, examining how academic wellbeing, meaning and purpose are challenged by the increasing metrification of academic work.Teaching and Research Staff4405852
