Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), Master of Politics and Public Policy, Doctor of Philosophy Professor Sally Totman is a political scientist and the Head of School of the School of Social Work and Arts at Charles Sturt University. Previously Professor Totman has held positions at Deakin University in Melbourne, Macquarie University in Sydney, and Champlain College in Vermont. Professor Totman is an expert in the history, politics, and international relations of the Middle East and North Africa and provides analysis on a wide range of issues relating to the region for various radio and television programs. She is the author of the book How Hollywood Projects Foreign Policy and her current research focuses on the depiction of the Middle East and North Africa in Hollywood film and popular culture. Professor Totman is the co-founder of the Middle East Studies Forum (https://www.mesf.org.au/) and former Deputy Director of the Centre for Middle East and North African Studies at Macquarie University. Professor Totman has over 25 years experience in located and online undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and successful HDR supervisions. Professor Totman has won numerous teaching awards. Professor Totman is the author of the book How Hollywood Projects Foreign Policy (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009) and co-editor of Global Crises and Risks (Oxford University Press, 2008) and numerous book chapters and articles. Professor Totman’s current research is centred on the depiction of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and its inhabitants in Hollywood film. She has also published widely on Political Leadership and Political Persona in the MENA and teaching Political Science through online simulations.
