It is the responsibility of Workplace Learning Team to arrange placements for students. Students can be placed only where a school/service has made an offer to host a student for a particular placement.
All teacher education students should be aware that contact with schools/services, other than during the official practicum teaching sessions, will not be sanctioned by the university. Teacher education student must not approach any member of a school staff without prior approval of the Professional Experience and Partnerships Coordinator or representative on their home campus. Breaches of this rule are a breach of the Student Charter.
Teacher education students enrolled in on-campus courses select their placements using the InPlace placement management system. Available places are dependent on offers made by schools /services. teacher education students need to be fully aware that undertaking professional experience may require that they live away from home or campus in order to be placed in an available school or setting appropriate to their course. It is therefore necessary that students consider in advance the necessary planning and budgeting required to ensure that they are able to fulfil the professional experience requirements of their course.

There may be prerequisite courses or other requirements, such as a Working with Children Check and anaphylaxis training, you must have met before beginning this placement. Please ensure you have met all requirements. If you are unsure, contact the course administrative office for your course.
Please do not apply to undertake professional experience until you have successfully completed all required prerequisites. You will need to apply to the Course Director for a waiver.
What do I need to do to prepare for my school placement?
Once you have received notification of the school where you will be undertaking your placement make contact with the school Professional Experience Coordinator and if possible your Supervising Teacher at least one week prior to the commencement of your placement.
