2023 HDR Colloquium - A world worth living in

This convivial face-to-face gathering was held in Building 21, Lecture Theatre (Room 201) on the Wagga Wagga campus, supported by live streaming.

Eighteen HDR speakers were nominated to represent their Schools and reflect on their research through the colloquium theme - "A world worth living in".

  • Each nominated speaker received accommodation support.
  • Prizes were awarded for the best School/Centre presentations and overall best presentation, voted by the viewer's choice.

The nominated speakers from our Schools were:

School of Indigenous Australian Studies

  • Deborah Magee - Aged care nurses reflections and understanding on optimising organisational culture and cultures of care in rural and regional Australia.

School of Education

  • Goutam Roy - Developing scientific literacy among children in early years (4-6 years) in Australia.
  • Dr Natalie Thompson - Talking to children about literacies in and out of school in the 21st century.
  • Dr Belinda Downey - Staying in early childhood struggle hope and connection.

School of Information and Communication Studies

  • Marion Randall - The wisdom of respectfully knowing how to live well in a world worth living in.
  • Rachel Walls - Abstraction in Mie - perspectives of language in trope.
  • Monique Shephard - The world of research: A world worth 'living' in.

School of Social Work and Arts

  • Jack Bradford - An Examination of the Accessibility, Transferability and Significance of Brisbane Junior Theatre's Immersive "One Week" Production and Training Models.
  • Adrienne Matthys - The inclusion of Australians living with dementia in voluntary assisted dying research.
  • Tracey Hocking - A World Worth Living in is a Trauma Informed World.

Centre for Islamic Studies and Civilisation

  • David Drennan - Reception History in the Sahara Uncovering Islamic Knowledge and Intellectual Heritage.
  • Rinto Azhar - Exploring the Entrepreneurship Competence of Australian Muslim Youth.

School of Theology

  • Dr Matthew Grubits - The Crisis of Captain Moonlite: a case study of unbelief in colonial Australia.
  • Sally Mordike -  A world worth living in: " The old will not be left alone".  Voted “Best in Show”
  • Grahame Rosolen - A world worth living in.
